BIARC Newsletter November 2004
Presidents MessageThe highlight of October was the ham radio swap meet in
Waimea. We had 75 guest sign the register with some hams coming from Oahu, Kauai
and Australia. Kevin Bogan AH6QO, our ARRL Pacific Section Manager from Oahu
spoke for a few minutes at the 10AM opening. It was great getting to visit with
our ham friends and to meet many new ones. Its always nice to be able to put a
face with the voice that we have heard on the radio. Greg Roberts VK2TPL of
Sydney, Australia was on island for the Ironman Triathlon and heard about our
swap meet. Had a nice visit with Norm Cohler NH7UA of Waimea. He informed me
that the hams on the North end of the island are hoping to start a new radio
club up there. Anyone interested should give him a call at 882-1092.
Congratulations to Irene Kubica for passing her code test during the afternoon
testing session. Our thanks to Gloria Whiteley for providing most of the
refreshments even though she was unable to attend this year. Esther Schneider
was a great help at the reception desk. Our thanks to Bob Schneider AH6J and
John Buck KH7T for an excellent job of co-chairing the swap meet. I think
everyone had a great time and are already looking forward to one again next
year.
Two of our members Ron (AJ0T) and Nadine (KA0FBB) Ebert of
